Collaborative Divorce: The Benefits of the Mental Health Professional

A collaboratively trained mental health professional provides a multitude of benefits to the entire family in the divorce process.
A neutral mental health professional is part of the team that helps us to work through and resolve the issues in your divorce rather than battle in court.
The mental health neutral does not take sides. Instead, he or she helps both spouses to express their point of view on difficult issues, such as the parenting plan or alimony issues, in a way where we can continue to negotiate toward durable solutions based upon Florida Law and a fair compromise.
Divorce almost always includes emotional issues and legal issues. This is true whether it is a collaborative divorce or a litigated divorce. The collaborative divorce process does not remove the challenges that we face in divorce. It is not an easy or perfect solution.
However, the collaborative divorce process is a much better solution than the alternative, which is a drawn out and expensive legal battle that ends with a judge issuing a final judgment.
TIME MATTERS
Recently, I worked with an experienced mental health neutral that helped both parents to work through difficult financial and parenting plan issues in their divorce. Ultimately, we were able to resolve the entire matter with a Collaborative Marital Settlement Agreement. We were able to help the family resolve their entire divorce and move on to the next chapter in their life in just over 2 months.
I hope that this information is helpful for you, your friends, or your clients. If you or someone that you care about is facing a divorce, I am here to help you navigate the process in a professional and respectful manner.
