There is no doubt that the Collaborative divorce process is more popular among families that have minor children. Parents put their children first. They don’t agree on everything, but they do agree that they will do everything in their power to protect their children from the potential harmful impacts of a nasty divorce.
A trained and experienced neutral child specialist is a great resource to those families that decide to resolve their divorce outside of the courtroom.
The child specialist helps both parents to “know what they don’t know” about divorce, and how it will affect their children. This individual is often times the most important member of our Collaborative team. He or she assures that the parents are in the best position possible to make decisions that put their children first.
The child specialist provides both parents with the information and support that they need to make better decisions for their children and for their family.
Additionally, the child specialist greatly increases the likelihood of a healthy co-parenting relationship after the divorce is finalized.
Working through the process of divorce in a peaceful and private manner, with trained professionals on board to assure that everyone is treated fairly under the law is a hallmark of the Collaborative Divorce process.
In short, the entire family is in a much better position to move on to the next chapter in their life when I child specialist is part of our Collaborative Divorce team.
