The Parenting, Equitable, Alimony, Child Support, Everything Else Plan

P.E.A.C.E. is an acronym that is used by many divorce professionals to assist responsible spouses to resolve their divorce without litigation.  This acronym helps to identify and address some of the common issues that arise in divorce.

P.E.A.C.E. stand for:

  • Parenting Plan
  • Equitable Distribution of Marital Assets & Liabilities
  • Alimony
  • Child Support
  • Everything Else

Identifying the legal issues that arise in divorce is half the battle.  The other half is addressing each of those issues properly and in a timely manner to allow the parties to move on with their lives without delay or mistakes.

P.E.A.C.E. is not intended to address all issues in divorce.   However, this acronym does provide a good outline to identify some key points that must be addressed prior to the entry of the final judgment of dissolution.  Additional steps should be taken to assure that all required financial disclosures are completed prior to settlement, a proper marital settlement agreement is drafted, and a proposed final judgment is prepared prior to appearing before a judge to review the settlement package and ratify the documents with a final judgment of dissolution of marriage.

The law firm that you choose to guide you through the divorce process should match your goals for divorce.
